Thank you for your email. I am never really happy with the timing of the mechanical work Greenthumb Franchisees do on lawns. Aeration is fine throughout the year so long as it is not dry. They hollow core - remove a core of surface or deep thatch, then leave the cores on the surface to rot down - into .... thatch! They should be removed and the lawn owner should demand that they are removed.
Scarifiication grooms the grass, getting the dead grass leaves away from the crown or base of the grass plants so that new leaves can generate in the growing season, with space to grow. Scarification is an important process that should only be performed when there is a possibility of some natural re generation of the grasses. Scarification will not get rid of deep under the surface thatch, that GT advises. Hope this helps.
